DNA connections

I was just looking at the DNA tab on my profile, and then the Fulton DNA link. Following that second list gives a link of DNA connections. There is the apparent ability to do an alphabetical sort.

I say “apparent” because within any given name, the results are random. Since the id number is given, why not automatically do a second sort by id number?

Also, I note that the columns sort independently. If you could do a sort by birthdate, then by name (where the second sort sorts the results of the first sort), that would also improve the utility of this table.

Or, am I missing something from this page.

Without a sort by name and id I find the utility of this list is significantly diminished.

They aren't random, it is displaying all the profiles where DNA descendants are also displayed.  That is why you will see the same test-taker repeated, because it shows everyone that they are linked to for that type of test.

I find this useful to sort by birthdate first, then you will see some have a note of "earliest known ancestor". Sorted this way, you can see the headwaters of all the branches of the surname (most useful when looking at Y DNA). They aren't all born in the same date range of course, so there is still some scrolling to do.

Hopefully that helps, please comment back with questions

That is not what I meant by random.

When you sort by name, the id is ignored. Thus within a name the results are random. The name, eg John Smith, should be concatenated with the id, eg Smith-123, and the sort should be on “John Smith Smith-123.”
ah, good example. add the tech tag to this, good suggestion
