Who is the Cpl Barry listed on the WW1 memorial in Whitmore, Staffordshire

A Corporal E Barry of the Canadian Contingent is listed on the war memorial in Whitmore, Staffordshire

I cannot find an E Barry associated with the parish.

I have found a corporal E Barry born Yorkshire with the Canadian forces see https://www.bac-lac.gc.ca/eng/discover/military-heritage/first-world-war/personnel-records/Pages/item.aspx?IdNumber=27178 and I have created a profile for this man. 

I have found a Daniel James Barry (1873 - 1920) in the neighbouring parish but cannot see the connection.

Assistance would be much appreciated.
