When merging two profiles, does the merge go from left to right?

Question

please look at possible merge for McKenna-3050 (corrected last name) and McKenna-2122.  I am ready to merge, but want to know if all info under -3050 will transfer. -3050 was created first with incorrect last name (McGarry), but that is the profile that was built upon.  Then discovered that the two profiles were actually one and the same person

When you look at the merge compare page, the surviving profile should be to the right.

When the merge is being completed, the person completing the merge should integrate all relevant information from both profiles' text (biography) boxes into the surviving profile.

For Open and Public profiles, all information is retained in the Changes log even if the information is not integrated during the merge. For Private/Private+ and Unlisted profiles, the Changes log from the merged-away profile may be lost or become inaccessible (my experience).

For clarity: The person completing the merge does not need to choose to retain the data from one profile or the other. We can combine information from the two profiles, or choose some items from one profile and some from the other.

If you have a surname difference, make sure to check the top part which will give you the option to switch the merge from one surname to the other surname to be merged into.
