Is anybody else having a problem with WikiTree Sourcer not producing an Ancestry Sharing Template? [closed]

I've been using WikiTree Sourcer successfully for a long time to produce both an Ancestry sharing template and an Ancestry record template in the citation. However for the past 3 days it has only been producing the Ancestry record template, there is no Ancestry sharing template.

I have checked that I still have "Include a sharing template to the original image if available" selected in the options. I also tried de-selecting it and saving the options then re-selecting it and saving the options again, but it made no difference.

The problem has occurred on several different records from several different collections, all of which have images that should be sharable. One example, an 1881 England census record, is https://www.ancestry.co.uk/discoveryui-content/view/7055132:7572. I have no problem producing a link manually by clicking on "Share", which produces https://www.ancestry.co.uk/sharing/6328687?mark=7b22746f6b656e223a224b4a4a3635364f33736d6e505568432b442f764f5464786b4b304947324572666c42457770676d3171486f3d222c22746f6b656e5f76657273696f6e223a225632227d. I can then manually put that into an Ancestry Sharing Template and it works, but that is obviously slower than having WikiTree Sourcer do it for me (yes, the convenience of WikiTree Sourcer has made me lazy!).

One thing I noticed - if from WikiTree Sourcer I choose "Go to Image Page" and then from WikiTree Sourcer I choose "Build Sharing Template" then it produces the message "Error building sharing template". Similarly if I choose "Build Sharing URL" then it produces the message "Error building sharing URL".

I just looked at a source citation created about an hour ago. It didn't not include the sharing link as it usually does. That was a census record. I just tried to use Sourcer to create a source citation from a different type of record and no sharing link with it either.

Edit: I also tried doing as Ros suggested by instructing Sourcer to build narrative with citation and neither of the two source citations created contained the sharing link. Hopefully Rob will see this and figure out if there is a change he can make to add that back.

Thanks Nelda for confirming it's not just me having the problem.

I had that problem yesterday now that you mention it.

Apparently Rob is onto it already; however, he is leaving on vacation so the fix might not happen for a few days.

Thanks Ros, that's good to know.

I checked it briefly this morning and I see that the data Ancestry is returning has changed slightly which is preventing Sourcer from getting the sharing link. I have a fix but I’m traveling at the moment. Hopefully I can publish a new version in the next few days.

Thanks Rob, glad to hear you've already managed to find a fix. Enjoy your vacation!

I have uploaded a fix to Sourcer. It is already available for Firefox. the Chrome and Safari versions may have a few hours or days to be approved and be published.

Thanks Rob for taking the time out of your vacation to fix this issue. My Chrome version of Sourcer has now updated and is successfully producing an Ancestry Sharing Template.

I've had no problems.  But then I always choose 'build narrative with citation', which produces a sharing link for the image *and* a sharing link for the transcription.  Try doing it that way.

Thanks Ros. I just tried "build narrative with citation" on the 1881 census record I linked in my question and it gave me:

In the 1881 census William (age 14), Scholar, was the son of James Reed on No 21 Hackwood Rd, Basingstoke, Hampshire, England.<ref>

"1881 England Census",

Class: RG11; Piece: 1254; Folio: 25; Page: 43; GSU roll: 1341306; ED, institution, or vessel: 1,

{{Ancestry Record|7572|7055132|uk}},

William H Reed (14) son, Scholar, in household of James Reed (41) on No 21 Hackwood Rd in Basingstoke registration district in Hampshire, England. Born in East Cowes, Isle of Wight, Hampshire, England.

</ref>

Sadly as you can see it still only produced the Ancestry record template, no Ancestry sharing template.

Looking at my contributions, it was doing it yesterday as well - and I never noticed! I just always assume that Sourcer is doing its job.  Bother! Now I'll have to go back through all those profiles.

Rob's advised on Discord that he's away for 9 days, has found a change by Ancestry that is causing this problem, and he's taking his laptop on holiday, that's dedication.

Thanks Gary, that does indeed show dedication!
