Crisford-20 related to a Catt family

Question

My father, Lancelot Laud Crisford-20, born 20 Dec 1886, died 13 Apr 1948, told one of my sisters at a gathering somewhere," that 'a' Catt standing over there is a cousin". Try as I might, I cannot make the link to any of the Catt family. Can anyone make any sense of this remark, please? Of course, this may be hearsay.

The area in question is in England and probably somewhere between Sutton Valence, Kent, Headcorn, Kent, Sandhurst, Kent and villages nearby.

Do you notice that there is a Susanna Crisford (ca. 1732-1775) of Susex, who married a John Catt (ca. 1732 - aft. 1760)?

It seems a little distant, but maybe he knew something about the relationship (100 to 150 years may be close enough that not all of the memory had been erased).

An Albert Crisford married a Mary Cuthbert in 1855 and they had a daughter Kate. Kate married John Robert Catt in 1885 and they had a son John Albert Catt who might have been the cousin.
