New to this forum but not new to genealogy. Principal interest at the moment is in the Houser name in and around the Schuylkill Valley, Columbia County, Luzerne County, and Berks County from present back to about 1750, currently.

Welcome to WikiTree! I am Dave Draper, a WikiTree greeter (in training...I guess...it is a loooong storywink) and I am delighted to see you join our community. Here, we are passionate about building a single family tree and discovering our ancestry. I hope you find WikiTree as exciting and rewarding as I have. There is a learning curve so here is a link that might help you get started. WikiTree How To Here is How To Do IT

You probably are aware that this is a place to park your pedigree for free for the world to see for FREE!  But, there is the added benefit that WikiTree is also a World Wide Community Tree, where all of our pedigrees should connect somewhere back in the long ago!

I have been a member for a little over two years!  In my honest opinion, and I'm not getting paid to say: this is the best site with the best community to help people find their families. So here is an illustration I made using the WikiTree logo to help new ones understand there is a two fold purpose to WikiTree.

Look at "Your Tree".  You are starting to add your pedigree on the site, but the goal is to connect it to the "big tree".  When you find one of your family already profiled and hiding in that tree somewhere, those two will merge and be one, and the connection will be made!  When that happens, the WikiTree Connection Finder will show you how you relate to famous people, presidents, kings and queens, movie stars and ME!  Yep, we could be cousins.

The more great grandfathers and great grand mothers you can add will increase your chances at making a connection and increasing those who are your cousins (we call it the CC7: Cousin Connection to 7 generations.

If you are not new to genealogy, then you should be aware that you can go to Find A Grave dot com, type in "Houser" in the last name field, and type in the county and state: Columbia County, Pennsylvania, United states of America and hit SEARCH and this comes up:

(if there are some typos, forgive me, because when I tried to copy and paste, it was tooooo much for the system and blocked my comment! I had to hand type all of this)

So keep doing the same thing with every county you want to search.  Thank you for introducing yourself!  You found the right community of friends to ask questions and for help.  We all feel that we are cousins and are very interested in finding how we relate to each other.  That is the reason this place is much more fun and friendly warm.

Stick around, and you will feel the love!heartwink
