We have spent a lot of time trying to find the answer to a mystery:  Which Mary Webb is the daughter of John Webb (Webb-1629) and his wife Mary Boone Webb (Boone-93). (This Mary, the mother, is the sister of Daniel Boones father Squire).   CAN YOU HELP US?

Mary and John had only one child named Mary.  But, we have two of them, married to different men almost at the same time.  Two different families, and also have two different bodies, buried in two different graves in different areas.

All the information we have is located at the site below.  We have the two Marys, their spouse, families and biographical data separated.  The two Marys are Mary Webb-(Webb-21486) and Mary Webb (Webb-541).  https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Space:Two_Mary_Webbs%2C_Two_different_Find_a_Graves%2C_Two_Different_Husbands

Please, if you are interested, look it over and leave us your thoughts at the bottom of the Two Marys page or send me a note.  My Wiki ID is McCurdy-322.  THANK YOU FOR YOUR GRACIOUS HELP.

YOU HAVE UNTIL OCT 8, 2023 to decide which Mary Webb is the one associated with John Webb and wife Mary Boone Webb.  Please read and write your vote on that page or send me a Message at McCurdy-322

After looking at the Boone family site and noticing they quote the Quaker minutes but ignore the Quaker minutes that relate to Mary Starrett it appears they are picking and choosing their sources to prove the lineage they want rather than letting the records prove the lineage.
Thank you for your comment.  I am not sure when the Transcription of the Quaker minutes was available or even the original documents.  Ancestry now has them.  Many probably overlooked them.

You have hit on a good point.  The entire Pennsylvania Boones, Webbs, Starretts, Lincoln and many other Quaker Surnames should be researched again and compare to all those Family Histories done in the 1800’s and early 1900’s.

I am not on the Quaker team.  Maybe another could answer whether the Quaker minutes have been correlated with various Family Histories.

I was initially overwhelmed as there is a lot of text on the page. but unless there is some reason to disbelieve the Quaker meeting records it’s pretty clear that Mary d/o John Webb and Mary Boone married John Starrett/Sterrett

I have given Wikitree members until 08 Oct 2023 to review the above and to post their answer on which Mary Webb was the daughter of John Harrod Webb and Mary Boone Webb.

Not meaning to be rude - but what will happen if we do not do something by your deadline of October 8, 2023?
We would like to get this done and we thought a months time would be enough.
Again, not to be rude, but I think genealogy is based on sources - not votes or popularity or deadlines.
It is, if you read the free pages.
I agree.
To Kristi’s point, sometimes the answer is there is not enough evidence to determine.

January was not the first month in 1727.
What month would it be?
Back then, Jan. was the 10th month of the year.
Toni, did you look at the Images for Mary Starrett..Quaker minutes-a primary source?  If not, give them a look.  All the images are there.  Thanks for your interest.  Lynn

The confusion has always come down to the source that Toni Boone has cited.  The issue is that while the source indicates the daughter of John Webb and Mary Boone as Mary, no further information is given....no husband, nor children.

https://archive.org/details/boonefamilygenea00spra/page/40/mode/2up

Later updates by the Boone Society and as late as 2012 when Dorthy Mack, head of Boone Genealogy for the Society, updated the information with recent acquisitions of Bibles and records, there still was no indication of who Mary Webb married.

More confusion stems from later in the same book https://archive.org/details/boonefamilygenea00spra/page/536/mode/2up page 537 indicates that Mordecai Lincoln married Mary Webb.

This has been going on since 1922 when the original book was written, then updated numerous times.

I agree that Mordecai Lincoln is not the husband based on sources.

There are Secondary sources (Various Family Histories) who chose Mordecai Lincoln as the husband of Mary Webb.  Tertiary accounts believe the wife of Mordecai was really Mary Ward.  But there are no Primary sources listing Mary Webb as the wife of Mordecai.

The only Primary Source is the Quaker Minutes which identify Mary Webb married John Starrett.  See the IMAGES 1-5 of the Quaker Minutes.

thank you Robin.
Lynn, I tried to respond at length to your private message on your profile page but the page seems to reject comments or WT is experience a system error this morning. So, I will just leave it that my cursory review comes to the same conclusion as Robin Lee. The secondary and other sources absent documentation can't overcome the primary source evidence. I have added the tag Quakers to your question--without that this question does not appear in the feed of those who follow that tag.
Thank you so much!
