Hello,
on the website for the St. Petruskirk in Sloterdijk,
[https://www.oudsloterdijk.nl/stichting_geschiedenis.php]
I found this information:
1633
Translation, with help from google translate:
In [1633], the Petruskerk was closed for services and further use. The destruction caused in 1578 had left such traces and the poorly executed repair work meant that the decay was so great that the safety of visitors could no longer be guaranteed. It was decided to convert Maarten Wildeboer's barn into a temporary church where they wanted to provide the services.
This raises a question about WHERE the marriage of Gerrit Rutten and Maritje Hindrikx would have taken place. Is anyone familiar enough with the original marriage record to determine whether the place (barn or church) is mentioned?

Marriage records Sloterdijk

Ondertrouw records Amsterdam

The marriage records of the Dutch reformed church of Sloterdijk (Familysearch) mention: 1645 Den 8 Octobris Gerrit Rutten ende Maritjen Hendrickx.

The marriage was proclaimed in Amsterdam 16 September 1645. Gerrit Rutten was 22 years old, a black smith's hand and Marretie Heijndrix, from Amsterdam, was 19 years old. She was assisted by Ael Jans. I can't read if this was her mother and I can't read where Gerrit Rutten was from and who assisted him.

Huizinge is a hamlet in Groningen, NE of Bedum, halway between Bedum and Roodeschool. So it could be right.
Hi,

when my parents were in the archives (I beleive in Arnhem), the archivist there interpreted the place as "Nijmegen", not "Huizinge". Can someone resolve that definitively and provide a complete transcription?
I guess my question was not exactly clear. I apologize. What I wanted to know is whether anyone can tell (perhaps from earlier pages in the source) in what church (or barn) the wedding would have actually taken place.

The text says: Besloten wordt om de schuur van Maarten Wildeboer om te bouwen tot een tijdelijke kerk waar men de diensten wil gaan verzorgen.

That is: Decided is that the barn of Maarten Wildeboer will be teconstructed into a temporary church, where the services are performed.

It is reasonable to assume that this barn is located in the same place as the church

Thanks Menne!
Place of birth of Gerrit Rutten probably can be solved via his children and the witnesses at their baptism. You'll have to circle around in his family.

In the act of Sept. 16 is written that the marriage took place on Oct. 8, 1645 by .... aldaar.

A "Marijtjen" was baptised in the 'Oude Kerk' Amsterdam on March 19, 1626; father Cornelis Jansz, mother Ael Jans

Hi Minke! Thanks for your help!

If you, (or anyone else) is interested in pursuing this mystery further (there was a long G2G discussion surrounding this marriage a while back), I have started a page where I am collecting notes on the various leads regarding the Rutten family, which might help avoid double work.
