Source of Washington's Date of Birth

The profile of George Washington [Washington-11] has no source for the date of birth. That seems odd to me. Then I took a look at the Bible that is sometimes used as a source for his birth. It's odd as well.

There are nine entries on the page. All written in the same handwriting using the same pen and the same ink. The dates range from 1730 when Augustine Washington married Mary Ball to March 31, 1797. So it would look as though
Washington's birth was not recorded until after March of 1797.

The handwriting doesn't appear to be Mary Ball Washington's -- in any case she died in 1789. Nor does it appear to be George Washington's handwriting.

Anyone have any comments or know more about the origin of this record of births and deaths?

The Bible doesn't seem to be anything close to an original or primary source.
