Albert DUMONT: birth, divorce and marriages

Question

Hi,

I have found some data which are inconsistent :

According to the Social Security files, this Albert DUMONT

Albert Dumont, "United States, Social Security Numerical Identification Files (NUMIDENT), 1936-2007" • FamilySearch

would have been born in Prescott, Arizona, on the 14th of January 1916.

However Albert DUMONT (same parents) was actually born on the 14th of January 1917 (same parents again, same birth date but in Los Angeles).

Unfortunately I have not been able to find the birth records of Prescott, Arizona.

How can this discrepancy be explained ?

Second question :

Albert DUMONT was twice married :

1) with Violet Campbell LINDSAY (on the 5th of September 1941), from whom he must have divorced ;

2) with Harlowe Holder FOX.

Can someone find the date of his divorce from his 1st wife and the date and place of his  2^nd marriage ?

Did he have children with either of his two wives ?

Inconsistencies like the ones you found in the birth information are incredibly common. When you create a profile for him, the text of the profile should discuss the discrepancies. You can only put one date and one birthplace in the profile data, but you tell the whole story, with sources, in the profile text. In general, I would prefer the birth record (if it appears to have been created when he was born, and not decades later as a "delayed record of birth") for being created close to the actual event.

Have you looked for him in census records for 1920-1930-1940-1950?

I wrote the other day that there was an error in that profile :

If you type in the category « Records » Albert Dumont, Yavapai, Arizona, you come to that page (above-mentioned).

Now, if you click on the tree symbol then the data appear correct.
So far so good.

But if you look at the registration card kindly provided to me by Brad then you can read the same error : 1916 instead of 1917 and … birth place : Skull Valley, Arizona. However his mother’s name and address in Los Angeles are correct.

This card was signed by Albert after « having verified that the above data are true ». This is purely incredible.

Yet, his funeral plate in the cemetery bears the correct date: 1917

Yes, I have looked at the census records but I didn’t find that of 1950. Maybe that could be helpful.

Two things I’d like to add :

Albert’s father, Pierre (Peter in the US) wasn’t born on the 4th of September 1879 but on the 5th. I have his birth reord from Ethe, in Belgium. This error is repeated on all the documents that concern him. Maybe he himself was the source of the error when he emigrated to the US.

Of course I couldn’t upload our tree on Wikitree as it contains almost 10000 individuals, but if someone is interested in Albert’s ancestors I have uploaded it on Familysearch, here :
