This is just a guess, but there were a lot of Quarles in Virginia. That might help.

I've been hunting for this info since about 1998 on every Forum and website I can find. I have the history of Quarles/Qualls in Virginia up to my eyes. I know everything about this man from 1809 until his death in 1850, but I can't find his parents. I'm missing something!
