Backing up profile images

Greetings:

I periodically download and save a GEDcom (*.ged) file so that I can save a copy of the markup for the BIOGRAPHY on my hard drive, and keep it backed up myself. This means I won't lose my write-up and sources about each person profiled.

But I've been wondering how to make a local back-up of the IMAGES associated with each profile. I've tried to assemble good photos of people, places, and sources to illustrate the profiles, but I can't figure out how to back them up.

Any ideas?

I just have my images downloaded onto thumb drives in folders organized by location, then broken down further into families/individuals. Using location first makes them a little easier to find on demand for me. This includes both source images and photos.

Thanks, Dina.

I do have a lot of these images on my hard drive, but my question is more concerning automated back-up, so that I can be sure I have them ALL, say for all of a particular person's ancestors, or for everyone on my watch list.
