Do marriages really need to have an "End date" set when one spouse dies? [closed]

Hi,

I noticed that someone edited a profile so that and end date for the marriage was set when the husband died. Is that a WikiTree standard practice/guideline? I know my dad doesn't think his marriage ended when mom died last year. Why does a marriage need an end date before both partners die, or one remarries?

EDIT: found multiple previous discussions AFTER I posted this. Closing the question. Community guideline needed on proper use of Marriage End Date - WikiTree G2G
