Duplicates Galore!

I do not know how to stop someone making duplicates? But its getting a little bit silly now - I have requested merges but they are not being actioned just more duplicates and this is because they think Jesse Brooks is from Blackburn though the marriage clearly states his Father is not Benjamin but Richard. This is Jesse Brooks from Blackburn  HELP.

Hi, Heather --

Sometimes it takes a day or so for a Mentor to be assigned to a new mentee.

Also, the Mentor Intervention Help page requests that those who submit an MIR basically step away from the situation until a Mentor has a chance to work with the member to resolve issues. (see: https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Help:Mentor_Intervention_Request#After_Submitting_an_MIR)

Thanks for trying to help. I'm sure things will get straightened out with time. :-)

oh! They messaged me I said I'd help I'll stop working on their line - sllght problem is that the Jesse from Blackburn - his 2nd wife is a  blood relative and quite close My Grans Great Aunt. so when they start messing disconnecting etc it messes my close relatives / CC7 so obviously I am going to change it back.
Understandable, Heather -- just remember that the fewer changes that take place before a Mentor can take a look at things, the easier it will be for them to sort out what has happened. :-)

The Mentor will make sure things are sorted out properly, so your CC7 and family lines will be corrected, but it will be very helpful to the other member if they have an opportunity to learn how to fix things themselves.

Thanks!

Heather, it sounds like the problems with members process will provide the way to resolve this situation.

Didn't really want to go down that route just don't know how to stop the duplicates and then no merges being actioned
I've tagged them Thanks
If, as S suggested, the member is new then you can go to that member's profile and look for the comments from his/her greeter, send a private message to the greeter asking him/her to step in and offer help to the new member.
None there

I'm finding more and more duplicates Jessie Brooks quite a few on here James Perry also spied a duplicatte of Betty Whalley and Matthew Whalley her son estimate would be about forty duplicates but that could be an underestimate

a ‘New Member mentor’ should step in and help in this situation. not sure if there is a tag for that.

File an MIR.  The folks that dish out members will see that they are new, and assign appropriately.

Ive done that, a couple of merges have taken place and the individual has private messaged me saying how frustrating it is being unable to pinpoint Jesse, I've come up with a couple of suggestions, and I've said I'll have another look see if I can find anything - anyone able to look in Newspapers, Court Cases in case a divorce occured instead of bigamy (actually that might make the News if caught)

Has someone been assigned to his yet? Because the disconnecting from profiles I have created to reconnecting the profiles to ones they have made (duplicates) is not fun!

Did you file a MIR as suggested by Ros eleven days ago? I'm not seeing that one was filed.

Yes I did and got a reply back on the 19th August to say it had been received so no idea why you can't see it.
