My oldest relative??

After seeing a post about the profile with the oldest DOB, got me to thinking.....how do I find out ALL my oldest relatives by surname?

I am sure there is a way to run a WikiTree+ report, but I am just lost as to how to do it.  I spent the last hour trying to get the correct parameters.  Any help out there??

Thanks,

Sheila

Well you  can at least find your oldest ancestor pretty easily:

  • On your profile, select the Tree Apps tab
  • In the pull-down field, select Other Apps, then Go
  • Select Ancestor Statistics (You may have to log in again with your WikiTree username and password)
  • At the bottom of the results page your oldest ancestor and their age are listed.

Not sure if this is exactly what you want, but the following WikiTree+ report will list all of your ancestors starting with those born earliest - https://plus.wikitree.com/default.htm?report=srch1&Query=Ancestors%3DTidwell-1228&MaxProfiles=50000&Format=&SortOrder=BiDa&PageSize=100.

I've tried both ways that Joe and Paul suggested.  It's kinda what I was looking for but not exactly.  I want to download something to put in a spreadsheet for my family.  Basically, Full Name, DOB, Locations of birth and death, DOD.

Both of the options that were suggested gives me more than I need.  I have got a spreadsheet with the info from Ancestry Explorer App, but it would take me days to edit the info I don't need.

Any suggestions, please??

Thanks,

Sheila

From the WikiTree+ report I linked above it is easy to download it as an Excel spreadsheet. In the column on the left where it says "Format:" and then in the box underneath it says "HTML", click on the arrow at the end of the box and select "Excel". It only downloads one page, so a bit further up where it says "Page size:" change that to "Maximal". When you then press the "Get profiles" button it will download an Excel spreadsheet with the first 20,000 results.

It looks like the Excel spreadsheet has all the columns you want plus quite a lot more. If you click the "Enable Editing" button at the top of the spreadsheet I think it should then be easy to delete the extra columns to leave just the information you want, with FullName, Birth Date, Birth Location, Death Date and Death Location.

Thank You, Paul!  I will go try it now.

WOOHOOO!  It worked.  Only question is how do I get the next profiles since it only gave me 20,000???  I know I have ancestors back to 0056.  Here is his profile:[[Teachtmar-2|Tuathal (Teachtmar) Techtmar (abt.0056-0106)]]

Glad to hear it worked. There are only 20,124 profiles in the full report, so you already have most of them. The profile for Teachtmar-2 is on line 24 of the spreadsheet. There is a way to get the rest but it is slightly tricky - Aleš explains how to do it at https://www.wikitree.com/g2g/1530340/wikitree-excel-export-20-000-line-limit?show=1530725#a1530725.

Thanks, Paul.  I "think" I can figure it out now.  Thanks for all your help!
