is it possible to modify the properties on the heading levels in the Bio?

When using 2nd and 3rd level headers in the bio, IE:

==Census Data==

===19xx US Census===

(Census household table)

===19yy US Census===

(Census household table)

is it possible to modify the html headers so that so much white space is not included between level 3 headers and the household table? (and possibly add a blank line above the 3rd levels?) Just makes scrolling so ugly as it is.

Hi Robert. Sorry but I think the answer to your first question is no.

For the second, about adding a blank line, try ending each table with

|}<br>
Or even <br/>

I use <br/> all the time so that sentences don't all run together.

As a general note: <br/> and <br /> are for XHTML compatibility. <br> alone is sufficient.

See also this recent post about the problem of the spacing of headings before tables - https://www.wikitree.com/g2g/1614436/i-apply-for-css-changes-in-the-biography-section

OK, either I was very tired at the time, or a bit of senior living crept into play - when I went to play with my own profile with the <br> suggestion at the end of the table data, I find I had already done that and it worked as desired. Just must have forgotten in the time since.  Like they say 'Old and gray and in the way'.cool

Still would like to solve the other problem somehow.  Will take a look at the info suggested below, as well as study the 'Wiki-Tree Sourcer' info some more as I'd like to see some changes in the info included with the table data.

Thanks to everyone for the responses!

When you are using plain text with the headings, everything is spaced out normally since the paragraph tags are styled, and the headings are styled.

The real issue is with the tables themselves, not the Headings. Perhaps the proposal should be to add the same styling to tables as paragraphs:

margin: 1.5em 0;

On another note, you may be interested in this discussion (which includes thoughts on transcribing entire census records via tables): Tables, Data Dump, and Automation.

Hello Steven,

I disagree … laugh

The real issue is with the headings.

The WikiTree styles on p have margin-top and margin-bottom.

The styles on h2 and other headings have only margin-bottom.

In my eyes all headings need to have also margin-top.

Note that per Biography Help Census should be a 3rd level heading (i.e., subsection).

You might find that some other markup would achieve what you want. Perhaps a === Census === subsection followed by bold headings for the years.

Note that advanced styling is not recommended.

Kay, after reviewing what you said about Census should be a 3rd level heading, I realize why and now will be changing my procedures to match. Thanks for the tip-off!
