New member introducing myself

Hello! I have been assembling my family tree in Ancestry for many years. I have used the resources available through Ancestry as well as information from Nos Origines and Fichier Origine. Collaboration in Ancestry is minimal, however, and I found that I wanted to be able to connect to and help improve a single database of my and others' ancestors.

Welcome Véronique! I see we have several shared distant ancestors.

Since you said you have been working on Ancestry, did you know that there is an easy way to add your Ancestry sources to WikiTree profiles? There is a browser extension called WikiTree Sourcer that lets you create source citations in one click, that can then be pasted into a profile.

Hi Valerie! Thanks much for the browser extension, which fortunately is available for Firefox. I hoped there was a better way to add proper citations (not an Ancestry URL). I'll be working on that!

Hi, Veronique, 7th cousin through our Québec connections.  I see you also added Acadia as a followed tag, so we probably have Acadian relatives too.  I would be happy to help you with any Acadian connections especially as I am one of the leaders of that project.  I see you have a very full tree already!

Thanks, cousin! I have Acadian ascendants who moved from Port-Royal to Beaubassin and from there went to the Saint Lawrence valley, well before the expulsion. I have relied heavily on census data because so little other data is available (at least in Ancestry). I hope to learn more!

Bienvenue Véronique!

With all the ancestors you have added, we are able to see our connections to you. So far, I seem to be your ninth cousin, but we may find a closer connection in the future. Thank you for joining WikiTree. You have so much to offer. We are lucky to have you as a member. Anne

Welcome new user. A great source of information is the National Archives. They have ebooks, newspaper articles and an unlimited amount of documents back to the beginning of written history. (http://discovery.nationalarchives.gov.uk/results/). Also each county has a local history library and staff. National Archives are free. I have over 14,000 ebooks, documents and articles in my library for reference. I also use ancestry for my base tree with 30,000 ancestors. DNA Tests are very helpful in connecting family members. The National Archives has sites in different countries for your family. If your from the USA, UK or any specific country, just adjust the two digit identifier after .gov to direct yourself to that country. Create a free account , so you can save your files in your library to reference them at any time in the future. There’s hundreds of sites to reference information. Happy hunting, and welcome to the universe of genealogy. https://www.bing.com/search?q=genealogy&form=APIPA1&PC=APPD
