Hi all, it is with sadness that I learnt of Guy's death today.  He was leader of the Québécois project and subprojects, and has been in poor health for years.  He is and will be sadly missed.

Oh, how saddening ... someone I thought of as a friend, so generously sharing his wealth of knowledge, so encouraging, so eternally optimistic ... we have lost a great treasure.

The true mark of how wonderful he was is the Wonderful WikiTreer post that, it now turns out, was posthumous.

sorry Gaile, the obit mention I had was for a different man, have removed it.  Don't think obit is out yet.
Agree, Gaile. He was a rare guy. How lucky we were that he helped WikiTree.

So sorry to hear this sad news.   Guy was the founder of the Grosse Ile Project and he "recruited" me from the Irish Roots Project, as it was at the time, to join as it involved so many Irish immigrants.   Great working with him.   RIP

This is such sad news. Guy recruited me for the Rangers many moons ago. What a wonderful WikiTreer we have lost. When I was working on the War of 1812 project, he mailed me his copy of "Soldiers of the King," which still sits on my desk for quick reference.  He was a kind and generous contributor to our work. He is missed.
