Gedcom with 3000+ people: anyone interested?

Hello,

My database includes thousands of people all submitted by a friend whose surname was Polak. He died a few years ago and now I am thinking of adding my own database to wikitree, I am wondering how to deal with all that he entered.

The Polak tree has only a small link to my tree (his stepfather was the brother of my wife's great grandmother) and is way too big for me to include. But his years of research would be a waste to lose.

All notes are in Dutch, most of the database concerns people in the Netherlands. This is the start of the tree, if you go up you can see some of the surnames:

Where would I find people who might be interested to take over this gedcom (plus images) and make sure the data will find its way to wikitree?

Thanks!
Jerry

Can we add the photos from the website you mention?
Michel, I did for one person, a photo on a license in 1922, naming the original archive (Stadsarchief Amsterdam). I'll ask for a general permission both 'Joods Monument' and Stadsarchief Amsterdam.

The benefit from Jewish profiles on Wikitree is the extension of the family relations, so I suppose they will agree. I'll let you know.

Jerry gave me a file with all the photos, and I meant to ask him what attribution he'd like, oops. Jerry, what do you prefer? Frank Polak by permission to Jerry van Kooten, or...... ?

Hi Jerry,

I think that this Gedcom would be something that either the Holocaust Project (Surname Polak is Jewish) or the Netherlands Project would have a great interest in. I hope they will respond to your question.

Yes, they have! :) I need to make extract that section into a separate gedcom and collect all the images now.

Just answering so others can have an update ... I have the Gedcom and am in the process of uploading it. Anyone can help with formatting and adding more sources by going here: Category: Weatherall-96 Needs Formatting and More Sources Polak Gedcom 2024

Nearly all the basic sources you need are at WisWasWie. Ancestry.com has a lot of its records indexed.... I usually click the profile, click RootsSearch, choose Ancestry, then go to the WisWasWie link. There's also a good amount of data on FamilySearch.

I'll adopt some of the Amsterdam based families.

For other helpers: https://www.joodsmonument.nl/en/ for searching profiles of Jewish people & Holocaust.

Oh, wonderful, thank you so much! I’ll get more uploaded today so you have more to choose from :-)

Here's an interesting question - what's the date on this newspaper that Salomon is holding? Can't read the date, but can guess based on the prime minister, etc. Salomon Polak

(I'm uploading the photos - may take a bit bc I don't have the whole Gedcom uploaded yet, and there's not a way to easily select who to upload first)

The date on the newspaper is 22 June 1939. Here's a Delpher link.

Wonderful, thank you so much! I’ll update the photo tomorrow, I’m supposed to be asleep now :-)
