Our maternal side of the family had no information to offer on my grandparents. Mother had told me the only name she could offer was Krous. Nothing was known of her father and in the late 90's researching such information was daunting.

I recently did a DNA test with MyHeritage and discovered a DNA match to a cousin in my home state of Massachusetts which led me to the name Klaus. Close to Kraus but not accurate so any research I was doing was a mute point.

Mother would be pleased to discover that her father's name was Joseph Klaus, born in 1886 and migrated to America and (briefly) meeting her mother.

Mother's childhood story is a sad one due to the brief encounter of her parents. it's sad that my mother never knew her biological father and a surprise that he lived within miles of where we lived and I grew up in Dorchester, Massachusetts. So close, but so far away!

I look forward to some day meeting my DNA match and perhaps learning more about the Klaus family history as there is little to be gleaned from current records.
