How to resolve a misspell through the years

My grandmother, Linne May Kestner (birth certificate Kistner; her parents William Monroe Kestner Elizabeth Jane Kestner (they were first cousins) . How do I resolve this with a different name on the BC?

Misspellings are common and do not really need a resolution. Today we strive to have a uniform spelling of our surname but once in a while, someone will still spell our name wrong.  You may just want to make a notation that her name was misspelled on her BC.
