My ancestors are now orphan, all because of me?

Hello!

I seldom work in Wiki Tree and am not familiar with the "MO" of many aspects. As a result, of my own impatience, I error. Several ancestors I have entered, are now lister as, "Orphan Files". These are my great aunts and uncles and a few others, that I have entered in haste. Can this be corrected and would you direct me to the appropriate section to specifically address my problem?

My Sincere Appreciation for Your Time

I Remain

If they are your family, or you have other interests in the profiles, you can adopt them.

Viola, WikiTree has a vocabulary of its own that can often be very confusing to new members.  The word "orphan" is used to indicate a profile that does not have a manager, which is a person who has volunteered to watch over it.  It does not mean anything about the person's parents or other family relationships.

When you add a profile, you are automatically designated its manager.  You can also become a profile manager if a manager of a profile adds you as a second (or third or more) manager.  The final way to become a manager is to click the "adopt this profile" link next to the sentence that indicates it is an orphan.  You probably accidentally removed yourself as manager, which you can do by clicking the privacy tab on a profile to display its privacy page, where you are able to do this.

Welcome to WikiTree and thank you for asking - feel free to ask about anything here - that's the best way to learn all the twists and turns and quirks here.

Hi Viola,

There's a linked phrase on an orphaned profile that's says: adopt this profile. Click this and you will be the profile manager. More info here:
