Can someone please help with George Brownfield?

Those working on George are stuck. Please see research and comments on the record. Is there someone that can give us a little push backward in Europe?

If George doesn't exist, then what do we do with children. Thanks.

The whole of this family shown as descendants of Richard Barton seem problematic. Although people could move around, there are so many different places here without any evidence to connect them except sometimes a name, that this looks to me like chimera of a family. The comments on Edward Barton's profile indicate that the death there is from the burial of a child not an old man. George Brownfield's baptism is actually a burial record.

It looks to me like everything in this tree needs checking and much of it needs chucking.

George Brownfield's children as currently shown don't have any reliable sources to link them to him. Alexander has Broomfield record - this is plausible as a misrecording of Brownfield but needs more evidence to make the connection.  Robert Brownfield's profile has no reliable evidence at all, just internet genealogies or books without source citations. His children fare slightly better.

Before trying to push back to Europe you need to have solid information about the first generations in America. What is the evidence for their ages, birth places or parents' names in the American records?

Thank you for looking this over. I will go through it and see if I can improve it in some way.
Hello Richard,

The comment that Andrew made about everything needs checking and much of it needs chucking (LoL) is accurate.

I didn't find anything in Ireland. Roots Ireland has little information on anything that is in the 1600's and MyHeritage is a Nightmare.

On the ScotlandsPeople Site I did find a Jeane Stewart Born or Baptism 12th June 1670.  Musselburgh, Scotland

George Brownfield married to Mary Bruntone 23rd August 1753 Smailholm, Scotland.

George Brownfield married to Janet Waugh 29th July 1775 Melrose, Scotland

Alexander Brownfield and Isabel Beanston Parents of George Brownfield 1786 and John Brownfield 1782 Melrose, Scotland.

I hope this info. can be of Help

All the Best

Peter C.
Thanks for the good effort. I believe this will help.
