My Dna 700 on FTDNA shows back to John Atwood and descendants. At that point it seems to change to Simmons, Spradlin or Ray. with some Williams in the misx. Haplogroup R-BY56749. Any help finding documents or proofs from that era is appreciated.

Here is the expected migration map for R-BY56749: http://scaledinnovation.com/gg/snpTracker.html?snp=R-BY56749

FamilySearch.org indicates that Isaac Atwood died in Massachusetts before John was born in Virginia.  I think that is a misconnection.

If you join the WikiTree DNA Project (https://www.familytreedna.com/groups/wiki-tree/dna-results) I will be able to look at your kit and see if I see anything that explains the Simmons, Spradlin or Ray connections.  My guess is it is an ancient connection, before there were records or even surnames.
