how do you enter wikitree data on wikidata?

Question

I would like to enter the wikitree number into wikidata. How do I add the box for wikitree? If I can't add it how does it get added?

For example add Waud-183 to Q3569022

At the bottom of the Wikidata page for William Waud (https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Q3569022):

1. Click on the "+ add statement" link.
2. In the "property" field, type in WikiTree and select the "WikiTree person ID" option.
3. Add Waud-183 in the box on the right.
4. Click "✓ publish".

This is for adding a formatted Wikidata link (external link) to a Wikitree profile (which this profile already has).

If you use it, it will add the WikiTree ID to the Wikidata element automatically.

The automatic population to Wikidata doesn't seem to be happening anymore, for example I noticed that [[Folsom-1926|Fred Folsom]] had a wikidata template, but there was no Wikitree person ID in his corresponding Wikidata (I just added it manually).

Hi Jason. Well spotted. The Help page says:

The template enables WikiTree+ to connect the two profiles and will automatically transfer data from WikiTree to Wikidata.

Perhaps there is a delay for WikiTree Plus to run before that happens. However, for Folsom-1926 the Wikidata template had been there since the profile was created on 8 December 2020, so you seem to be right that the mechanism has failed in this case.

Yeah, I found a G2G discussion about the process, it seems that it’s a somewhat manual process that Ales did/does once a week (perhaps mostly automated for him), I think I’ll manually add them from now on though.
