I can add a to the profile of James Burcham. This is who I can add:

  • his mother: Margaret Leeds
    born 1649, Aynhoe, Northamptonshire, England
died 1744, Nottingham, Prince Georges, Maryland

These are the sources I am using:

Should I contact one of the pre-1700 projects or know about any style guidelines before proceeding? Thank you!

It looks like there's good evidence that his father was Henry Burcham, but I don't see a basis for identifying his mother. Henry seems to have married Margaret in 1685, but James is thought to have been born a good while before that (to Henry's first wife, who an unsourced entry on Henry's profile calls Elizabeth).  Do you have additional evidence for this family? (Note that your uploaded Gedcom is not a source.)

PS - I see that there are two profiles for Margaret -- one as Leeds and the other with LNAB unknown. indecision

Further to the above:

James married in 1705, and it's not likely that a man of age 19 (or less) would have married, so he must have been born to a wife earlier than Margaret. Also, James appears to have had a sizeable estate in 1709, when his father was still living, so he had time to have acquired property (or maybe he inherited from the family of his unknown mother).
