what about the MONTHLY Connectors Challenge for August 2023 ???

The MONTHLY Connectors Challenge is the one I like to work on the most. 

However, it is interfered with whenever there is a WEEKEND THON which is annoying for me :(

There has not been a Connectors Challenge in July so I am anxiously waiting for the August one.

However I am worried that the NEW wikigames will once again interfere with the monthly challenge :(

I wish wikitree would stop removing a 30 day challenge to replace it with a 3 day challenge, thus removing 27 days of  workable days.

I don't really like the THONs because I like to interject variety in my work and not do the same repetitive tasks over and over again. But I have always participated in the THONs because I want to be a good member. However if the Monthly Connectors Challenge is again removed for August, then in protest, I will not participate in wikigames.

The ideal solution would be to have both the Monthly Connectors Challenge AND the THON run at the same time. 

The next best solution would be to have the Monthly Connectors Challenge run the 27 days when the THON is not running.

Wikitree chooses the worse solution which is to remove the 30 day Monthly Connectors Challenge and replace it with a 3 day THON.

That's a bummer. If you like variety, it sounds like the WikiGames would be right up your alley! :-)

By the way, it isn't really a "WikiTree" decision when those monthly challenges are run. It's decided by the leaders of the challenges and I believe Aleš. I think it has to do with things that are tracked and how it affects the scoring of things. Maybe ask Aleš sometime and he can probably explain the reasoning.

I was thinking about a way to have both the monthly Connectors Challenge and THONS during the same month that wouldn't cause conflicts between the trackers.

What if we put THONS only on the last weekend in the month, then we could have the monthly challenges run for a "short" month of say only the first 25 days of the month ?

On August 11-13th, the US Black Heritage Project will have a weekend sprint to add sources to profiles in our US Black Heritage Project, Needs Sources maintenance category. More details and sign-up will be posted in G2G closer to the event.

We'd love to have anyone interested in sourcing join in, whether you're a member of the project or not!
