Yes l live in Australia. My  ancestors on my paternal side are from Scotland, and date back to the Vikings.  I also have Scandinavian  in my DNA
My husband side has ancestors in Poland, Germany, Austria. I love researching the Polish records ❤️
I see a lot of places I've always considered to be more Western or maybe North- Northwestern Europe as opposed to Eastern European but I have both fairly equally...which is interesting genetically speaking because one parents has virtually no DNA to show these regions and the other parents shows low single digit comparisons whereas my DNA will match to those same commuities (including Belarus/ Russia / Latvia / Poland etc) with the low end usually around 25-30%-so instead of my usual (Cheers!) Here are some others...

You bet.

Grandpa was listed as a Slovak born in Hungary when his mother brought him to America, along with his younger brother and sister, to join his father. Eventually each of the three kids took a different spelling of the surname; Sabo, Sabol, and Szabo.

My grandmother came over to America from what was then Czechoslovakia to join her brother who had a boarding house where my grandfather was living.

Yes, I do! My mother's parents were both from Galicia (Poland/Austria) and came to the US about 1909. Their surnames were Ochab and Salamon. My father's mother's family came from Bohemia. Their surname was Blecha. My great grandfather immigrated in the 1880s. They all settled in New Bedford, Massachusetts.

I found out this past year my grandfather was born in Hungary much to my surprise. No one in my family new he was Hungarian. They though he was Irish because he changed his name upon arriving in the US. His mother was Czech and father Hungarian. I'm 85%  Irish ans 15 % Baltic. My sister had 2 mother's day's this year! Hungarian mothers day is celebrated one week before US mother day according to Google calendar. haha

Yes, my grandfather and his parents emigrated from Romania to NZ in 1905. His brother emigrated to Australia. I understand through family talk and notes that my great-grandparents also were from Romania. Their parents may have been from other parts of Eastern Europe. I have found it very difficult to trace their ancestry. Family last names are Altman and Negrescu. My Altman and Negrescu great-grandfathers were both tailors. My grandfather was a furniture carver and sculptor; he set up his own business in NZ.

Yes, my great great grandfather was born in what was Hungary and is now a border town in Austria. They were German, but my DNA shows a reasonable amount of Eastern European background.

My maternal ancestors were from the Bohemia and Moravian area of what appears to now be in the countries of the Czech Republic and Slovakia. Some records also state Austria. I am brick walled due to a language barrier.
