Looking for information on my grandfathers time in prison.

Question

It may sound like a silly request but my mom wants to know. 13 children and it’s believed that a couple may not be biological due to the prison time. My grandfather would have been there sometime between 1956-1963 and we don’t know how long. Somewhere in TN most likely. His name is Dillard Lee Litton born 1925 died 2000. Of this isn’t allowed, I understand.

If you search the name, there is a Find A Grave Memorial (26465915) with biographical info, and it appears there are some hits on ancestry.com.  If you have access to a newspaper archive, I would search that as well, since a prison sentence often generates news, depending on the reason for it.  Sorry, I don't have a subscription to either at this point, but someone may be willing to step up and take a look for you.

There are quite a few sources for him here, including WWII and the 1950 census. I would first check Butler County, Ohio court records, since that is where he was in 1950. Or since he can't be found on the Ohio state offender locator because he is no longer incarcerated, try calling (614) 387-0588. This is the number for Ohio Dept. of Rehabilitation and Correction.
