Looking for Info POLLY MAGGARD circa 1856 - 1910 married William Terry, LETCHER Co Ky (Birth parents).

Question

1.) Looking for confirmation of Polly's parent's; either John A. Maggard (son of John Benjamin) wife Matilda Miniard or John David Maggard (son of Rev Samuel Maggard) wife Luanna Pratt.

2.) Her husband William Casebolt/Terry was adopted and raised by Silas Casebolt and Jane (Musick or Hughes?). William went by both Casebolt and Terry. Looking for any information on William and Jane.

3.) Lived South central and Southeastern Kentucky. Letcher, Perry and Knott Counties.

This area in my tree has been a brick wall for 25 years.

Hi Glen,

I checked the profile and it only has one source from Ancestry that's not even for the Mary "Polly" Maggard. So essentially the profile is unsourced.

Have you tried looking at free websites for sources, like FamilySearch?

I've started to get some known sources on other family profiles. We need to verify surrounding family first before tackling her profile and her parents.

I have some familiarity with surnames of Casebolt and Musick, and a little bit with Maggard. I also have a family tree that goes back to eastern Kentucky.

Ok, I've done some work on the family now. While it's not confirmed yet, I lean towards the theory that John David Maggard is her father, based on the marriage record that I found between Polly and William Casebolt. The marriage was conducted in the home of "John D. Maggard", and the officiant was Rev. Samuel Maggard. Apparently John David Maggard's father was one Rev. Samuel Maggard. So it lends credence to that theory, but more research is needed.
