I need to find my 3x Great Grandfather's parents.

My 3x Great Grandfather was born in Georgia, USA in February 1830.  His name was John Goens (Goins, Goings, Gains, are possible spellings too).  He married Sarah Jane Kirby in or around 1857, also in Georgia.  They later moved to St. Clair County in Alabama and finally settled in Marshall County, Alabama.  I cannot locate any parental information for him at all.  I could really use some help - either suggestions as to how to find info or any info you might have.

I did a search on Ancestry and FamilySearch without any close matches.

You may need to use DNA to help you solve this. I am also trying to find the parents of my 3rd great grandfather and DNA is my only option as records are scarce. If you have done your DNA, let me know and I can help you.

Shonda,

Thank you!  I have done DNA through Ancestry.  My GEDMatch number is CN218699 and my Ancestry username is RebelGirl76.  I appreciate any help at all!  I haven't gotten to the level of understanding how to narrow down via cousins in DNA, but I'm trying to learn more quickly.

Kristina
I have sent you a private message, Kristina.
