Citings objects on NZ Museums web site

Hi All, just wondering if anyone has a recommendation for how to best cite objects and "facts" from the NZ Museums collections (e.g. old photos and their descriptions)?  Particularly when there's considerable research done on an object (including family history) that isn't obviously attributed to a particular source or contributor.

Example: Photograph, Gold sluicing the Homer claim

Finally, a heads-up that the NZ Museums web site is about to change: Haere mai Kōtuia ngā Ketē, Haere ra NZ Museums

Thanks, Danny.

You cite the Museum, the particular collection the object is included in, and the object or acquisition number; for the photograph in this case, the ref. is Photograph, Gold sluicing the Homer claim; Unknown photographer; 1885-1897 - Te Hikoi Museum, Southland, New Zealand : Object number RI.P0000.272.
