The "Biographical Directory of the United States Congress" contains a brief biography of every member of Congress from 1774 to the present, including years served and birth and death dates. You can search the "Biographical Directory of the United States Congress" at: https://bioguide.congress.gov/
From the main search page, you can limit your search by year, state, party, and/or position, at: https://bioguide.congress.gov/search
For example, select "Alabama" on the left-hand side of the page. This search will retrieve an alphabetical list of every member of Congress to have served from the state of Alabama.
