Hi Wikitreers,

We have Robert Paul Delo and family from Ohio and originally Pennsylvania. Robert Delo was born on May 26, 1911 in Ohio, United States. His parents were Frank Delo (1862 - 1937)and Mettie Weiger (1873 - 1946).

I wanted to share the family pocket New Testament Bible and help in the family genealogy. He seems to have passed fairly young (middle age) and I’d like to find an obit or cause of death with improvements to his family genealogy such as his exact place of birth.

Robert’s aunt Jennie M Delo (1864 - 1951) was a school teacher for the Native American children out west on the reservations and his father was a Ohio oil worker of the Methodist faith it appears. Methodist (per marriage certificate) however wife is listed as Lutheran. This Bible shows Presbyterian church? Who was Rev. J. B. Foster? Or Here. Does he have a Wikitree profile?

Robert’s aunt Miss Minnie Delo (1865 - bef. 1900) is another genealogy mystery she never married just like her sister Miss Jennie the school teacher but was Minnie a teacher also? Why and how did she die young abt in her 20’s-30’s.

I can’t find the date of this Bible but early 1900’s possible 19th century it’s very fragile  in good condition. It measures 2” wide and 4” length.

Any collaboration is appreciated

Thank you

In 1900, she was living in Altoona, Pennsylvania:

http://"United States Census, 1900", database with images, FamilySearch (https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:M3MB-VPZ : 13 January 2022), Minnie Delo in entry for Reverend F.s. Delo, 1900.

She has no occupation listed in the 1900 United States Census.

She was alive at least as late as October 30, 1902, when she is mentioned as living with her father in Xenia, Ohio:

Here is a familysearch.org profile for her:

Hi Roger,

I believe this is a different family group entirely, but with similar names?

A brother Frank a Reverend but the brother Frank of Minnie and Jennie was a oil worker and their father David Emanuel Delo (1838 - 1921) died 1921 not 1902.

Very interesting and could be easily conflated; unless I’m missing something.

 Intruguing!

Here is the Minnie you found her father on Wikitree see David Michael Delo (1817 - 1902) very similar location and names

Interesting the family is related both Minnie’s share George Michael Delo (abt. 1773 - 1848) as grandfather. One Minnie comes thru Joseph Delo (1801 - 1887) and the other through David Michael Delo (1817 - 1902)
