I'm assuming this is the one? [[Wilkins-3969|Enoch Wilkins (1788-1850)]]  If so, the Wikitree profile gives his birth location as North Carolina, and that is probably incorrect.  I found a Citizenship Affadavit for US-Born Seamen from 1811 (Port of New Orleans) on Ancestry, and he declares he is a New Jersey native.  I also found his marriage record from Warren County, Ohio (1817) and added it to sources, but unfortunately it did not provide names of parents, so unfortunately no luck.

I wanted to add:  I discovered that Jennings County, IN (where Enoch died) has some wonderful resources online, and includes some letters his widow wrote to a friend.  Perhaps there might be a clue in there?
