Trying to find 2nd great grandparent Terrance Tracy who abandoned family. [closed]

My 2nd great-grandfather was married to Orpha (Switzer) Tracy who resided in Des Lacs, North Dakota. They had three young children when according to my grandmother Eveyln (Tracy) Brieher. She claimed he as a bigamist. I believe Terrance and his father or grandfather arrived in North Dakota from Canada.

Thanks, Sheryl

Have you taken a DNA test?  A cousin found me because our great-grandfather-in-common was a bit of a scoundrel.

We each had enough info to confirm what DNA told us.
Hi Kristina…..I just mailed my kit off today! can’t wait to get the results!
Great!   Good Luck.

It did find a record from when Terrance and his dad James were born in Canada.
I checked my Tracy lineage in Canada and could find no Terrance or Terrence Tracy, and wikitree says no blood relationship can be found.  One thing I would note-- we Tracys seem to be prone to changing the spelling of our last name to Tracey. As I go back four or five generations of my ancestors, there are several people who changed their last name to Tracey, for reasons unknown. If you haven't as yet, it might be worth checking alternate spellings of Terrence's surname.  If he wanted not to be found he could have created some evasive versions of his name!

the obituary someone put in Orpha’s comments for her father-in-law , does not say the son attended the funeral only that he was still alive. Orpha and her children was living with her father-in-law in the 1920 census. and obituary says they attended the funeral.

Terence is not living with Orpha and the children in 1920, 1925 or 1930 census.

the father-in-law’s obituary says he is survived by his wife in 1924 but he was a widower in 1920, so he must have married between 1920 and 1924.

I will search for that obit. The one I found is short and has no notes. Thank you.

a tree at Geneanet Community Trees Index

is confusing him with L B Tracy https://www.familysearch.org/tree/person/details/MXBY-P1J

not sure how this could be Terrence

he is born 20 years before Terrence

In think you are right. I don’t think this could be Terrance.
Do you know how I can remove this L.B Tracy and his relatives from my family search page?

i cannot find that Geneanet tree that had LB as father or he has since changed it to James Tracy.

i cannot find it at familysearch where LB is the father, can you send me a link of where you see this

i see your family here

https://www.familysearch.org/tree/person/details/GNCC-RRD

https://www.familysearch.org/tree/person/details/G6P2-NL3

james last wife is here https://www.familysearch.org/tree/person/details/GKKB-PT6

It’s confusing because when I went to my family search page LB was there as well as a who bunch of Tracy’s were there, but none related to Terrance or James. Thank You for all your great research on this…..little by little, it will all come together. Thank you so much!

Hello, I just happened upon this site while searching my paternal great grandfathers name. My grandfather was your Grandmother Evelyn's brother Will. I am sorry to say I don't have any more history really to add except I remember meeting your Grandmother & her husband Jake when living in North Dakota in a trailer park. I can't remember if it was in Bismarck or Mandan. Will & Shirley were living in Bismarck at the  time. I could try and ask my Aunt/his daughter who is still living if she remembers anything. Sorry can't give you anything more substantive. If it helps though if you dig enough you can find things though. I found my father's biological family as Will & Maybelle adopted my fathet & aunt as babies.

Oh yes! I knew your grandfather, Aunt Shirley and Uncle Will, very well! I have so many great memories of them growing up when whoever we visited Bismarck! Uncle Will played Santa on more than one occasion. Your Aunt must be Sharon and I also knew her well when we visited Grandma and Grandpa Brieher. Tell he hello from me!
