Difficulty finding parents of GlaxoSmithKline executive Robert Alexander Ingram

Question

I created the profile for Robert Alexander Ingram (Ingram-10211) after reading his obituary in the Triangle Business Journal, as a part of my interest in prominent people and families of North Carolina, especially the Research Triangle area. However, I have not been able to find any info on his parents, or those of his wife Jeanie, through my usual sources. Is anyone able to track this information down or give suggestions of where to look?

He's linked with parents on FamilySearch, but I don't know if it's based on more than that 1950 census record. I see on some articles that say he grew up in central Illinois, so the census item tracks at least.

Thank you! This was not coming up for me in searches on Ancestry. I hadn't really used FamilySearch before, possibly because you have to make an account and I didn't realize I would be able to do so for free, or what it was capable of.

Here's an obituary for Robert H. Ingram, the father in the 1950 U.S. Census, with a son Robert A. Ingram of Canada at the time of his death on September 26, 1990.
