Do I need a request to put someone on the trusted list

I received a request to be put on the trusted list for a profile I recently created. I granted the request, but there are other profiles in the works, and I want to put the other party on the trusted list for those profiles also. Can I do this proactively, or do I have to wait for requests for each profile?

The short answer is no, you don't have to wait for requests.  There is a bulk trusted list changes tool you can use to add someone to multiple profiles at the same time:

As a courtesy though, I think it's prudent to make sure the person wants to be added to a number of profiles, since it can contribute to a watchlist becoming large and unmanageable.

You can add them without their requesting. When I have added cousins to profiles for our shared relations, I've sent them a message letting them know I will be doing that, thereby giving them an opportunity to decline if they do not want me to.
