Parentage of Johann Andreas Dressler 1714-1768?

The parentage for Dressler-5 shown in WikiTree is absent primary source documentation (as is the date and place of his marriage) though this is commonly seen. I find that this parentage may have come to be seen through SAR membership applications and am unable to find any primary sources to substantiate the connections made.

It is commonly seen that he is the Andreas Dressler who arrived on the Christian VII 13 Sep 1749 however another Andreas Dressler is found to have arrived 2 Nov 1752 on the Phoenix from Rotterdam, last Portsmouth. Is there anything which could establish which man is the man of the profile?

I do not have extensive experience with German records and would appreciate the assistance of someone with more experience looking at the connection to see if there is an actual connection or if we simply have connections created based upon names which fit.   Thank you.

Are you sure that the wife is the correct one. It is no problem to find then the marriage on archion.
Actually, nothing in this generation is certain. If you look at the son of the same name (who is documented in colonial records) you find that the same immigrant ship record is claimed for him (at what would be age 2) as for the attached father.

Dieter, a colonial reference gives the birth place of his son as near a "dorf" in "Yakst" in "Schwabeland." Could this equate to the place shown on the profile which is Jagsthausen, Neckarsulm, Württemberg, Germany.

Having a problem with Archion registration. This link is the document that is frequently seen as the marriage record.

Hey, T. I took a quick look into this problem. As far as I can see, the German part of the history behind Dressler-5 seems to be valid. The only problem in cases like this is to prove that a person in Germany is the same as the one in America. Sometimes the only thing they share is the name.

But if you have a definitiv mentioning of a certain birthplace in an American source, as you seem to have now,  it is something to actually work with.

"Yakst in Schwabeland" is very likely to be identified with Jagsthausen. In former times this village was called Jachsthausen, "-hausen" beeing kind of a expression for village. This would easily transform to "Yakst village" in English. And it is situated in the historical and cultural region of Schwaben (Swabia), even if officially belonging to the duchy of Württemberg.

If I find some time this evening, I will have a deeper look into it.
Ok, I found, translated and linked all birth records to the children. There is a daughter Chatharina that for sure is wrong and should be removed.

I also started to do some clean up in his biography, but there is still a lot to do, mainly for the American part of his history, since there seems to be a bit of a mixup between him and his son of the same name.

You need to document the birth and marriage records and possible births of children at Jagsthausen. For instance, a daughter Magdalena, was confirmed in Pennsylvania in 1754. If you can find her birth or births of other children for this couple it might help solve the problem. They may disappear from the record after 1749, or they may have another child born after that would help determine which Johann Andreas arrived in 1749 and which one arrived in 1752.

I checked the birth records of Jagsthausen on archion and found that the birth records of the children listed in the profile are correct. I also found records, for twins, Maria Magdalena and Anna Maria, born 19 April 1741,  I find no further birth records for children of this at couple at Jagsthausen after Johann Andreas in 1747.   This would further support the 1749 immigration date.

I also found the marriage record for this couple on Ancestry and there is a digital image, showing that she was Maria Barbara Beinhardt.  not "Barnhardt'!  His name is clearly "Johann Andreas Dressler" in the record but incorrectly indexed and transcribed as "Drossler."

In the first thread above the underlined This Link went to to the marriage document. Do you read it as Beinhardt as Ancestry has indexed it? I find the script difficult to decipher as it would appear to show his surname as Jacob Droßlers rather than Jacob Dreßler. If it is Beinhardt, then there are issues with her parentage as show in WikiTree. Danny above appears to think WT has the Dressler parentage correct (though not properly documented) but I don't know if people are yet looking at the wife.

Hey T., I linked and translatet the birth and marriage records from Jagsthausen to the profile of Johann Andreas Dressler. In the books of Jagsthausen you can "clearly" read "Bernhardt" as maiden name of the wife. And it is "Bernhardt" in your link as well, which is the corresponding entry from the books of Beinberg. It is just hard to read, but the dot over it is only a color stain on the paper, and so the "i" is no i but a "r".

I might also check and add all the children of this couple, so that we then have a complete overview of all familymembers that might have made the trip over the "big lake" to America. Looks like Daniel already found the missing girl named Magdalena, that got confirmed later on in America. Thanks for this find !

The name of the groom is clearly Johann Andreas Dressler and his father as Jacob Dressler, Burger und Schmidt zu Jachsshausen.  Danny is correct that the bride's name is Bernhardt, not Beinhardt. I went back in that film and found the records of Bartlin Bernhardt's children and the name is definitely Bernhardt. Anna Barbara was born 7th November 1709, not 1716 or '17 (p. 96, Tauf Register, 1678-1760, Liebenzell, Calw (includes Beinberg), FHL microfilm #1528431, image #559 (Accessed at Ancestry.com.
