Rogue user made 750 "contributions" in 13 days, then quit WikiTree

Coombes-841 joined WikiTree in Dec 2021, then started making contributions on 31 Jan 2022.  In the 13 days before they closed their account on 12 Feb 2022, they made about 750 contributions - including merging many profiles and stopping merges of others.  I assume some of these profiles had no profile manager, allowing them control.

Some profiles with the same name but different birth/death dates and different parents were merged as "clearly the same individual". No, they were not the same person.

I'm providing the WikiTree ID because their account is closed, it's anonymous, and the ID is needed to evaluate the damage done.

I'm not sure how much of this was newbie enthusiasm (always good) versus the intentional creation of chaos.  I'll assume that some of their contributions were valid (although they weren't valid in my line).  I don't know why they left after just two weeks of high activity; perhaps someone complained about their seemingly careless disregard for facts.

Because more than a year has passed, I'm not going to try to unmerge improperly-merged profiles.  Instead, I'll simply recreate the destroyed profiles from my Sollenberger/Wenger family with the correct information.

If a WikiTree hero wants a good challenge, someone might want to wade through the other Coombes-841 contributions and merges.  They all need to be checked, and at least some (beyond my family) will need to be fixed.

Oh no, that’s not good. At least you caught it.

I make far more "contributions" when merging or removing/disconnecting/fixing profiles than when I create from scratch. I prefer additional saves if it prevents a mistake. On the flip side, more experience, I do fewer full saves less often than I did before. It seems I created more duplicate files by saving less often. I give benefit of doubt, but I also live by fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on me.

Instead of "I'll simply recreate the destroyed profiles from my Sollenberger/Wenger family with the correct information", are you not able to go to the changes log and revert to a previous iteration of the profile??

Or is this not an option after a merge??

As I understood, he created merged away profiles new. That is the only way to get the profile again. You cannot reverse a merge.
