Thomas William Hunter can be seen living with his grandfather Francis Hunter in England for the 1851, 1861 census before having his own family. His birth place is given as Shadwell, Yorkshire in many Censuses however in a couple he notes Newport, Yorkshire as his birthplace.

1851Census -  (Piece 2358, Folio 407, Page Number 10)
1861 Census
On the 1866 Marriage, he gives his father's name as Thomas Hunter. He is claiming to be a 'Minor' with Amethe being 'Full Age'. Mary Thorpe and Richard [?]Pickhaver[?] 1871 Census - (Piece 4454, Folio 27, Page Number 3) 1881 Census - (Piece 4447, Folio 38, Page Number 23)

On the 1885 Marriage he gives his fathers name as William Hunter. He is 38 years old. Witnesses are William Coates, and Joseph Rushworth.

1891 Census - (Piece 3624, Folio 125)
1901 Census - (Piece 4152, Folio 103, Page Number 25)
1911 Census - (Piece 26725) Note; Many 'Trees' on Ancestry have Elizabeth Hunter as his mother, however, this cannot be confirmed from what I can see and only an assumption.

** Grandfather Francis had Jemima Hunter in 1823, Elizabeth Hunter in 1824, Sarah Hunter in 1827, Samuel Hunter in 1830, Mary Hunter in 1831, Ann Hunter in 1833, Jane Hunter in 1836, Frances Hunter in 1837, William Thomas Hunter in 1841 and Jane Ellen Hunter in 1844.

These are the possible children that would have had Thomas William Hunter in 1847, obviously, you can eliminate a fair few already, but still struggling to locate the mother/father.

Jemima Hunter m-James Voates they had a son Thomas William Voates b-1843 this could be him. He might have used his mothers last name?
Unfortunately this does not seem to be the same Thomas William as he can be found in the 1851 England Census with his mother and father (Piece 2356, Folio 573, Page Number 5).
I did have high hopes, and I thank you for finding a pissible link, especially after finding a Baptism record for him in 1846 in Shadwell!

So close!

I believe one parent of William Thomas Hunter seems to be Elizabeth Hunter.

Elizabeth Hunter can be followed by;
1841 England Census; Piece 1226, Book 8, Folio 8, Page Number 10)
1851 England Census; (Piece 2358, Folio 407, Page Number 10)
1861 England Census
1871 England Census; (Piece 4750, Folio 49, Page Number 15)
1881 England Census; (Piece 4723, Folio 56, Page Number 23)
1891 England Census; (Piece 3892, Folio 30)
1901 England Census; (Piece 4446, Folio 20, Page Number 6).
1911 England Census; (Piece 28406)

It is the 1881 Census that provides a clue. In her 1881 Census, there is a man called Frank Hunter who is a 4-year-old from Bradford. I believe his relation says, Grandson. Going back to Thomas William Hunter, he had a son called Francis Hunter born in Bradford around 1876. Francis is missing from the home address of where Thomas William Hunter, his wife, and his children. I believe that Francis is the Frank Hunter who is living with Elizabeth at the time.
