PGM Descendant Template only for active members?

Working a list of Wikitree+ suggestions I have several profiles of deceased  that include the PGM sticker.  Which came up as an item to correct.

Error 846: Died before template time frame

The PGM guidance is:
Please do not place this template on profiles of deceased individuals.

Just curious, why does the Mayflower descendant sticker show up on deceased descendants but the PGM is only supposed to be on the active members?

Also I have learned they work slightly differently on the parameters.

Hi Curt,

Are you saying that there's an error from a profile for someone who was a WikiTree user and is now deceased? Or are these profiles say from the 1800's?

He died in 1941,profile created in 2021.

No children in profile.

Member Only Stickers include PGM Descendant, Mayflower Descendants, as well as the Connection and Relationship Stickers.  Both descriptions state they are for ACTIVE members.

  • Descendant
    Descendant of PGM migrant.
    {{PGM Descendant}} (Status: Approved)
This sticker is for use on profiles of active members to show their link to families of the Puritan Great Migration.
ancestor (Preferred, Text, numbered: 1) AutoGenerated
  • ... ... ... is a descendant of a Mayflower Passenger.
    {{Mayflower Descendants}} (Status: Approved)
This sticker is for living descendants of Mayflower Passengers. It can be used only on living WikiTree members (see examples below).
passengerID (Preferred, Text) The WikiTreeID of the Mayflower Passenger.
passengerName (Preferred, Text) The name of the Mayflower Passenger
living (Deprecated, Text) It should always be yes so it is not needed.

Thanks. In searching I did not find that page.

I also had some bios where an HTML table was built above the bio to say “Mayflower descendant of “ So I replaced it with the sticker.

Better to have removed it, per this information. Thanks.

Template Sticker page has ‘most’, if not all, of the Templates / stickers on wikitree. As Bobbie said below, the Mayflower Member is a project box, so it is not included in that list.

The Descendant sticker can be used on the Descendant profiles, instead of the PGM or Mayflower stickers above.

  • Descendant

    Descendant of honored ancestors.

    {{Descendant}} (Status: Approved)
This Sticker is for use on a descendant's profile to show their link to ancestors.
category (Optional, Category) A category can be added by the sticker.
category1 (Optional, Category) The sticker can accommodate adding two categories.
id (Preferred, Text) Include the coded WikiTree-ID
image (Optional, Image) Use this parameter to change the image displayed by the sticker.
imagetext (Preferred, Text) add a description of the image (example is for default image)

I believe that is how it was intended to work--a sticker for WikiTree users to add to their profiles.  It's interesting that is different than other "descendant of" stickers.  Let me check with the Leadership team.

Curt: here’s the backstory: “ Because there are sooooo many Mayflower and PGM descendants, at the time it was decided that too many stickers would be on too many profiles. These stickers add a category specific to alive members.”

"Ancestor" and "descendant" stickers are typically limited to profiles of people within a few generations before or after the notable event/person and to profiles of living persons. The Mayflower Project's Family Member sticker is supposed to be limited to profiles of people born before 1700.

To clarify, the template {{Mayflower Family Member}} is a project box and not a sticker. Its use is restricted to the descendants of Mayflower passengers born before 1700.

There is also a sticker for the use of living members of WikiTree who are descendants of a Mayflower passenger:

{{Mayflower Descendants
|passengerID=Soule-33
|passengerName=George Soule
}}

The template used for the 2nd example, here, has a parameter that states:

living Deprecated Text It should always be yes so it is not needed.

It does not generate a "suggestion" or "error" if the member becomes deceased.
