Hello!
I’ve been adding profiles of my French ancestors to WikiTree, and I’ve come to several pre-1700 ancestors. I completed the WikiTree prerequisites for adding pre-1700 profiles, and I have this question regarding my source. I’ve been using a secondary source — a “family book” for the village of Lambach, Moselle, France — which is a compilation of research from primary sources (records from local, departmental, and national archives, as well as records from local parishes). I created a free-space profile for this book, and I’ve been citing that for my post-1700 ancestors. (The url for the free-space profile is below.) Today I added to the profile photos of the first several pages of the book (intro, summary, etc), with the hope that it would help provide a better idea of the quality of the research. I believe this book to be a carefully researched, reliable source, and I hope the WikiTree community agrees
Looking forward to your feedback,
Leslie Kannus (Duszynski-78)
P.S. When I purchased this book from the author a few years ago (whom I then discovered is a very distant cousin!), he emailed me photos of two primary sources while I was awaiting shipment of the book from France. I now have a photo of my 3x-great-grandfather’s (Walcker-43) birth certificate and a photo of his and my 3x-great-grandmother’s (Geyer-1185) marriage certificate!
