YDNA Ancestors

Question

WikiTree shows me as a Y-DNA descendant of Christmas Ray (Ray-150).  While I am somewhat familiar with his Ray line, I do not show him as an ancestor.  I know that I have a DNA connection to one of his descendants, but that is at a genetic distance of 5 on marker 111.  How does WikiTree determine that I am a direct patrilineal descendant of Ray-150, as shown in that profile?

Your 106/111 match with the Christmas descendant represents about 28 transmission events.  If the other Y-DNA test taker had his mitoYDNA ID in WikiTree, then it would be one of the longest confirmed direct paternal lines in WikiTree.

The prospect of finding a relationship like this is one of the primary reasons DNA features are in WikiTree.

Thanks Peter and Kathie.  There was a problem with my misinterpretation of what WikiTree was telling me- not that I have Chrismas Ray in my direct paternal line, but that he is a part of the same Ray line as I am, from Richard Ray, as shown in the Relationship Indicator.

I'm guilty of reading into the statement what I want to see.
