I've not yet taken the leap and signed up with archion, but I'm told anyone can see the list of church books they've made available.  I've tried but got lost.  I'm particularly interested in the newly released books from Pommern.  I have several direct ancestors with roots there.  Can someone provide a link or list of what new books have become available?

You may find the parishes of the church district Pommern under the archiv of Norddeutschland. Click them to see the books. The green parishes and/or books are online already. The white ones will follow at some point.

If your ancestors lived in Hinterpommern, formerly the Prussian Province of Pommern, nowadays Poland, you might have a look at the section "Ostgebiete" in the Central Archives of Berlin. It is sorted by districts. You have to focus on the "Provinz Pommern" (in brackets).

Thank you, Danny!  Yes, I'm looking for places that are now Poland.  So what Archion calls "Pommern" is only the part of the old historical Pommerania that is now in Germany?  Everybody uses different 'rules', and boundaries changed so many times that it can really get confusing.
The part of the today Bundesland Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, which was in former time the Western part of the Prussian Province Pommern is called Vorpommern, and in the Protestant church of North Germany it is the church district Pommern. The former Hinterpommern is now part of Poland (Woiwodschaft Pomorskie). You may also find records here on this polish site:

Wow!  Thanks, Dieter.  I had not known about that Polish site.  Sadly, the West Pomeranian Voivodeship, where my Wetzel ancestors and another ancestral family name Uecke come from, appears to have almost no records.  Maybe those got transported to an archive in Germany?
