Was Martha A Jones Causey's maiden name actually Gay? Perhaps married a Jones before Causey?

I'm leaning to believe that Martha Jones Causey was Martha Gay who married a Jones before William Jasper Causey, then after she died William Jasper married her sister Patience. She is listed as Martha Gay on one of the death certificates of her child. Am looking into this further. If someone knows something, I'd appreciate the help.
