Focus my feed to only actual relatives?

Question

Is there a way to focus my feed better, so that I only see notices of edits to my actual ancestors, and not everyone with my surnames?  I'm getting way too many irrelevant contacts about people who are not my ancestors and are not from my ancestral places!  Thanks, WikiTree newbie.

Hi S,

This is the Activity Feeds Help Page that describes the various available activity feeds. Most of the feeds are accessible via the tabs in the Family Activity Feed option in your My WikiTree drop-down menu. By default, that option shows activity for your Watchlist (profiles for which you are a Profile Manager or on the Trusted List), but you can select any tab, and also use the filter links below the tab list for more refinement (for example, hiding your own contributions). The Ancestors tab there can provide you with activity on profiles of your direct-line ancestors.

Since I'm a member of the France Project, I have the France tag included in my profile tags, which is beneficial to me for following France tag activity in the G2G forum. Unfortunately, any France surname activity gets included in activity feeds that include my profile tags. Since France surname activity isn't of interest to me, I use several other activity feed options to monitor activity pertinent to my interests.

Possibly the most efficient way to follow activity on your ancestors would be to get their profiles added to your watchlist so you will see edit activity in your family activity feed.

When you create a new profile, it automatically gets added to your watchlist, but to get an existing profile on your watchlist you need to be added to the profile's Trusted List. That mean either adopting a profile when it is "orphaned," or contacting the profile managers to ask to be added. There's a form on profiles that generates "Trusted List Requests."
