NEM says she is a real person, but that her parents are unknown, specifically not Newland

Was Mary/Sarah Newland a real person, with the parents shown?

What is NEM, Tim?
"See also" point 5 on the profile is "New England Marriages Prior to 1700", so that could be NEM. But it is by no means a complete reference to a source. Perhaps Tim can provide more details.

I think the question was asking if  and  had a daughter who could be that person (forget whether she was the wife of Henry Howland).  If they did have a such a daughter, you wouldn't merge the profiles, you would just note that there's no evidence she married Henry Howland.

My understanding of the Torrey NEM citation is that no evidence has been produced as to lnab of Mary spouse of Howland although it’s a frequent assumption. In the short run, my posted comment serves the purpose of pointing out these profiles refer to the same person.  I don’t expect to resolve the question of whether 2 of my ancestors are correctly identified as their children.
