WikiTree Sourcer update seems to have introduce a bug [closed]

The middle names are now being concatenated to the first names in the form so no one has a middle name.

Actually Find A Grave is parsing, but Ancestry doesn't seem to be.

  •  What browser are you using?
  • Only on ancestry site?
  • Do you have the url that you had the problem on?
Chrome.

Ancestry for sure. See the connected profile. It has the original source information.

Hi Lance,

I don't think anything has changed here. The issue is that the Ancestry profile has no country specified for the birth or death:

BIRTH 6 APR 1916  Ottumwa, Wapello, Iowa

DEATH 2 NOV 1980  San Diego, San Diego, California

Ancestry itself doesn't record middle names, just forenames. So Sourcer has an option to treat all forenames other than the first name as middle names when adding a new WikiTree profile. But this is not desirable for many countries that do not have the concept of middle names. So it only does it for certain counties by default. Since there is no country specified for this Ancestry profile it doesn't do it.

See the Sourcer option under the Add/Merge tab:
"Separate forenames into a first name and middle names:"

You can set this to Always if you only work in countries that have middle names. Or you can add a country to the places in Ancestry.

There does seem to be an improvement that I could make though - Sourcer does prompt the user to add a country if it doesn't recognize the country. It looks like it does the middle name option check before this and doesn't update it after the user adds a country.
Thanks. That makes sense    Great work.
