My questions concerns the 1929 Great Lakes Indian Census Rolls. It contains information that none of the others I've checked does. There are two columns, one for "Surname" and one for "Given"; both columns are under the heading "English". There are entries that have the surname 'Condecon' in the Surname column, but in the Given column has the following names: Caroline Hall, Joseph Hall, Jr., John Robert Hall, Ruth Julia Bear, Julia Maria Bear. Some of the othernames in the given column make more sense: Jack, Thomas Percy, Cecelia A., Edward, Margaret, etc. It's the surname 'Hall' stuck in the Given column that I'm curious about. I have a small amount of North American Indian DNA according to Ancestry, and my Hall surname has been my biggest brick wall. I have an Ancestry DNA match with someone with Condecon ancestors, but we can't figure out where we connect. Her maternal ancestors are Ojibwe, and she doesn't know anything about any Halls. Can someone help explain the presence of the surname Hall mixed with Condecon on this census? I'm trying to figure out how to pursue this lead. Thank you.
